Devlog Update - Introducing Market Fluctuation and Enhanced Inventory Slots
We are excited to share the latest updates and improvements in our game that bring new dynamics to the gameplay experience. In this devlog, we will dive into the details of the two major changes made: the addition of market fluctuation and the introduction of different inventory slots for traders.
Market Fluctuation:
To create a more immersive and realistic in-game economy, we have implemented a market fluctuation system. This system introduces dynamic changes in item prices based on supply and demand. Players will now experience a living economy where prices for items can rise or fall over time - currently set to 3 seconds. This addition adds depth to the gameplay, as players will need to adapt their buying and selling strategies according to the market conditions. As keeping an eye on the market trends and any world changes with be essential to the game.
Commodity Type enumerator:
To make the economy system / market fluctuation work, we created an enumeration type class which will allow items to be listed under different types currently these are Food; Raw Materials; Weapons; and Tools.
Enhanced Inventory Slots:
We have also made significant improvements to the inventory system, specifically with the introduction of different inventory slots for traders. With this update, traders now have specialized inventory slots that are distinct from the player's inventory and container inventories in the game. These unique slots allow traders to showcase the buy and sell price for their exclusive range of items for sale. By having dedicated inventory slots for traders, we create a much more distinct trading experience so players can identify what could be a trader's inventory. This enhancement adds depth to the trading mechanics and enhances the overall gameplay interaction.

These two changes work together harmoniously, as the market fluctuation system directly impacts the inventory slots of traders. As prices rise or fall, trader's item prices are adjusted in their inventory accordingly, offering players new opportunities to capitalize on favourable market conditions or adapt their trading strategies in response to changing demands.
We believe that these additions greatly enhance the gameplay experience and provide players with more engaging and dynamic gameplay mechanics. The market fluctuation system injects realism into the in-game economy, while the different inventory slots for traders create immersive trading interactions.
